Wellington Wing + Wind Wall

Wellington Wing + Wind Wall

Wellington, New Zealand

The proposed skyscraper is sited in Wellington, the windiest city in the world with high winds blowing in the north and south directions. The high winds became a catalyst for this skyscraper design with the airfoil design and the perpendicular wind wall acting as independent but bisecting systems.

The aerodynamic form reduces the lateral loads on the skyscraper while speeding up the winds around the tower to spin the wind turbines and generate electricity for the building itself.
